An Editors Pick For: The Met Ball

Yes I am back! I have been busy with tons of work and I'm sorry for not posting but now that I have a little free time, why not do some blog post. So as some people may know the Met Ball is coming up next week on the 7th which means there are going to be tons of amazing gowns and couture walking the red carpet. The Met Ball in my opinion is the Fashion Forward version of the Oscars, is a Gala that celebrates the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. Below I've picked a few dresses I would pick to hit the Red Carpet.

Marchesa Fall 2012: What Marchesa does show be considered couture! Marchesa does nothing wrong in my eyes because they are one of the few brands that create art! This was my favorite dress from the collection so it would be amazing to see this walk the carpet at the Met Ball!

Tadashi Shoji Fall 2012: Tadashi Shoji is another one of America's top gown designers. This dress below is amazing for somebody whose attending as a guest of a designer or actor!

Zac Posen Fall 2012: Zac Posen is the definition of High Fashion! His gowns give me chills! This is a statement gown that needs to hit the carpet!

An Editors Pick For: Michelle Obama

Hello Fashionites, I want to start off by sending a shout out to friend and Fashion Stylist Raymond Gee (@Ray_Gee) and American Fashion Brand United Bamboo (@UnitedBamboo) for this post inspiration! Raymond Gee and I had a small conversation on twitter and United Bamboo tweeted us this simple, chic amazing Printed Dress that was perfect for the working woman! I immediately thought of First Lady Michelle Obama because the dress is classic Michelle Obama with a cardigan and a pair of kitten heels. Then I began to think, why not change up her style, make her more fashion forward and edgy but still appropriate for spring!


Lets first began with the amazing Orange Print Sleeveless United Bamboo Dress! Classic First Lady attire with an interesting print and detailing on the shoulders!

The next looks are coming right from the runway! I'm not sure if Michelle Obama will buy off the the runway but these are great silhouette that i will take her style to the next level and of course since we focus on American Fashion all of the looks are from American Designer Brands!

The first look is from the Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2012 Collection! This look is a great choice for a press event or T.V. appearance! It has an amazing neck line that shows skin without actually reveling anything but still having  a very sexy and edgy feel, especially for a pant suit! The only thing i would change is the color to a Nude, Orange or Navy!

We picked this Pre- Fall Peter Som dress because its perfect everyday wear for the First Lady! I think the print is great, and the silhouette would work well with Loafers if decided that it wasn't a "heels" type of day! This Peter Som look is another great press option as well for a casual event!

Now I think a lot of readers might think I'm pushing it with this Tracy Reese Pre- Fall look but I wanted to give a look that would push the boundaries and this look a upgraded concept of the T- Shirt and Jean look. This is a great fashion forward everyday look; The printed pant with the colored block lace top works well together! This look on Michelle Obama would get great attention from the press in a heartbeat!

An Editors Pick For: Kyle Anderson

So as you may or may not know "An Editors Pick For" is our way of styling our favorite people in the industry! Today we are doing my Idol, Marie Claire's Accessories Director Kyle Anderson! I got inspired to do this post a couple days ago when we read a certain tweet from him and we thought it would be fun to switch up Kyle's style and put some change in his life! Of course we are only picking looks from American Fashion Designers and although I think Kyle's style may be too Fashion Forward for American Designers, we did our best to pick perfect looks for him!

I decided pick looks that have elements of Kyle Anderson current style but still taking him out of his "comfort zone" a bit!

This first look is from the Spring 2012 Michael Kors! We pick this looks (and majority of the other looks) Because it features a Leather Jacket which is right in Kyle's comfort zone! The light pant is a piece hat may be different for him but instead of  the sandal we would put a black boot or one of his many Prada shoes with this!

The next look can be considered simple but the darker color pallet without being a completely black look is why I pick this! I personally love this Yigal Azrouel Fall 2012 look, especally the sleeves on this Statement Jacket! If we had to change this look for Kyle I would add a more statement making shoe just to funk it up!

I would throw this Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 look on Kyle Anderson and would not change a thing! We have a leather jacket and a hint of fur on the hip! The only thing we would add is a Bag! Thats it.

An Editors Pick For: Kelly from Live With Kelly

So two days ago I was at the gym bright and early and "Live With Kelly" was on while I was doing my cardio so of course I watched the show and I have to admit, I really enjoyed the morning talk show! I was even more impressed at whoever styled her because she looked amazing, and then a idea popped in my head, lets dress kelly! Of course I've chosen look directly from the Runway Via www.style.com/ and as usual they are all American Designers because thats what I love to focus on with this blog!

So above is a Picture of Kelly! Her show comes on every weekday at 9am on ABC/WKBW so make sure you watch! From watching her show the first thing that I love is that she has a PERSONALITY! This is so important because personality can help carry am outfit! I see tons of confidence in her and as far as fashion goes, she looks like she is sample size so I chose the looks based of those things and how the show was conducted, but I will explain that with the looks!

Let get started, when I watch the show on Tuesday I notice three outfit changes so I picked six look for three different reasons I picked looks that would hopefully be comfortable for Kelly to move around and be interesting to the viewer. Also this is great exposure for the designer! These first two looks are for the opening of the show, which is about the first twenty minutes! As the show opens Kelly comes out and sits down with her guest co-host behind a table so I had to chose something that is visually interesting, so a printed garment or a garment with an interesting cut at the top so it draws the attention on the viewer so I chose these two dresses, this one printed dress from Duro Olowu and this dress with a very unique detailing at the top from Sachin + Babi!

The next look is for the interview part of the show with whomever is the special guest for that day! This look is seen from head to toe so I wanted to pick a look that was very chic, trendy, fashion forward but still a look to please the masses so these looks are Ready To Wear! So the first look is this one from Erin Fetherston! This look will attract the younger audience on up to women in the 40's and 50's. A lot of women are looking for a printed pant year round and these pants from Erin Fetherston are the perfect inspiration! and the top is very feminine with the ruffle detail in the front and sheer garments are so on trend so the sheer shoulders and sleeves are perfect! especially for the girl that might be hesitant to wear a complete sheer top!  The other look is specificly geared toward the working woman who still wants to be fashionable so this look from Sophie Theallet was a perfect choice! I love this look for all body types and a lady who has a career fresh out of college or the mom with a career can wear this look.

The last look can be for a second interview or a different sit down segment behind the table so I picked looks that can work well for both situations! Visually interesting, fashion forward but not over the top, very easy to relate to but still have that edge that may be slightly out your comfort zone but still willing to give it a chance! So the first look is from United Bamboo. Black and white together is always chic, its always in style, its very easy to wear and has a very clean edge factor to it! The next look is from Chadwick Bell! Jumpsuits should be a garment in every women's closet because they are again very easy to wear and all body types look good in them! This Chadwick Bell jumpsuit has a print but its not too over the top smack you in the face but just enough!

I've grouped the Duro Olowu, Erin Fetherston and United Bamboo looks together and the Sachin + Babi, Sophie Theallet and Chadwick Bell Looks together! So today is officially Monday and tonight at 9:30pm Styled By June is Premiering on VH1 and I am crazy excited about it airing tonight! June Ambrose is a heading force in Fashion Industry, she has styled some of the Best including Jay Z, Diddy, Busta Rhymes, Mariah Carey and many more and she Styled the X Factor! I thought I would do a fun little post Styling June Ambrose!
